Since I’m in this right alongside all of you, I wanted to share what my own work will look like too—a mix of what I always do, with a few intentional challenges added in for this particular horse. And honestly, having all of you as built-in accountability makes it even better. I love that part.
This horse can be a bit weaker in his right hind, and when he gets thoughtful or pensive, his walk tends to shorten. So a lot of our focus is on helping him move more freely and honestly through his body under saddle. I say under saddle because this is the same horse you all know for casually clearing farm gates in a single bound—yes, that one. He’s special.
But while he’s naturally athletic and bold on his own, under a rider he isn’t always as fluid at managing balance and connection. That’s where the real work begins. Slowing things down, organizing the body, building strength without tension—this is going to be such good work for both of us.
I’m genuinely excited about the process and can’t wait to dig in.
